1st Cathays Al-Huda Hosted Muslim Scouting Olympics [News]

This year Cardiff hosted the third Muslim Scouting Fellowship Olympics’. Muslim Scouting in the UK emerged in the late nineties. It developed from a few Muslim Scout Leaders who believed in the values of Scouting and who wanted the Muslim community to share in the benefits and fun of Scouting. In the last few years the idea of scouting has gained a lot of supporters in the Muslim community. The Muslim Scout Fellowship (MSF) is the United Kingdom's official body for Muslim adults who are active in Scouting. It is part of The Scout Association in the UK and now consists of Consists of 28 scout groups across the country.
This year UWIC saw over 350 Muslims scouts from across the country come together for a fun activity packed day competing with one another in many different activities. This event running successful for the past three years unified all groups for the first time out side of Birmingham.
2008 and 2009 winners Cardiff were hoping to hold onto the cup for the third year running however, Bristol were keen to take the trophy away from Cardiff after coming 2nd last year. Scouts competed is various events Including javelin, shot-put, hurdles, 100M sprit, long jump, sack race to name a few..
The day was opened by Salim Kidwi the vice chair of Scouting in Wales, with a speech saying “On behalf of the scout association in Wales I would like to welcome you all here to Cardiff, I hope you have a great day and I wish you all the best of luck and remember everyone is a winner
The day ended with 11th St Marylebone (London) 185 points, 2nd Bristol (1st Bristol Muslim) 205 points and 1st Cardiff (1st Cathays Al Huda Scout Group) 288 points winning themselves a hat trick.
Naveed Rahman 1st Cathays Scouts leader said “I’m very proud of my Scouts, we’ve won a hat trick on home ground. It has been a amazing day truly showing the scouting sprite”
