District Commissioner - Keith Williams
I started in Cub Scouts (Wolf Cubs) at the age of seven years and then progressed through Sea Scouts and senior Scouts until I obtained my Queen Scouts award all with the 5th Barry.
I started helping with the cubs in 1963 and took out a warrant in 1967 and at the same time completed my wood badge training. Until 1969 I was an assistant Cub Scout leader before progressing to Cub Scout leader in 1970 which I held until 1985 when I became GSL of the 5th Barry.
In 2004 I was asked to become acting District Commissioner for Barry, a position which I presently hold. During the years I have been awarded with the Medal of Merit, Long Service awards and the Silver Acorn.

Barry Scouts & Guides Fete
The first Scout event held at Romilly Park was in 1933, when it was called a KYMSPAUMI. The Event is of paramount importance to the finances of the Scouts and Guides, and represents almost 50% of their annual income raised from the public. The revival of the Barry Scout Fetes was resurrected after the 2nd World War, when the groups were desperate to raise funds for the local groups, and they continue to go from strength to strength. In 1985 the Scouts invited their sister movement the Guides to take part, and in 1988 the introduction of professional acts into the Arena had a beneficial effect and boosted the attendances. The fete is normally held on the first weekend in July at Romilly Park.
