Adult Training in Cardiff and the
Vale of Glamorgan
No
one is expected to start a new job without some sort of training,
and Scouting is just the same. You will also bring with you
a wide variety of skills and abilities, and Scouting recognises
these too. There are some parts of the training that are essential
and can relate only to Scouting, but a lot of them can draw
on your outside of Scouting experiences to complete the Modules
needed for your role.
You will start off with the Getting
Started Modules which will not only give you
a good grounding in what Scouting is all about, but will also
help you play a valuable role in your Scouting role. These
are elements of the training that every adult in Scouting
needs.
All of the Modules have to be validated but this is not as
horrible as it sounds. It is simple projects and discussions
that show you understand what you and Scouting is doing, by
doing things you normally would in your role. Your Getting
Started Modules will be assessed by your Group
Scout Leader or Commissioner and is quite informal.
Depending on your role you will be expected to complete a
series of Modules that will take you to the award of the Wood
Badge the internationally recognized emblem of
a trained Leader in Scouting. For this you will be guided
through your training by a Training Adviser who will help
you through the preparation of a Personal
Learning Plan, assess what you have achieved
and validate the Modules for you.
