Programme Ideas for all sections can be found on our online wiki*.
This resource is designed to help leaders plan and run better programmes - and in the spirit of Wiki's, it's here for you to both read and contribute to. If you can improve or add to an entry, just click on the edit button above the page and type away.
This Wiki is not designed to repeat programme ideas that you can find elsewhere (eg. on Scoutbase). It's purpose is to suggest local opportunities and ideas that are available within the Area. In other words, we don't want to say "Go indoor climbing" - we want to say where, what it costs and who you should contact.

* A wiki is a website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change available content, typically without the need for registration.
Welsh Scout Council Awards
Welsh Beaver Scouts Award
What is the purpose of the Award?
To raise the Beaver Scouts' awareness of their Welsh heritage.
What do we have to do to gain the Award?
The Award is a Colony based challenge to be completed within a 12 month period. There are six elements comprising the Award.
To gain an Award the colony must:
Complete the Wales element by participating in two activities.
Choose three of the following elements, completing two activities from each. Awareness, Arts, Friends, Environment, Fun
Each element Will have a list of recommended areas of development, looking at the Welsh dimension. These elements are designed to be incorporated into your Colony meetings and to link to the wheel of the Beaver Scout Programme.

Cub Scout Award for Wales
What is it all about?
The aim of this Award is to give the Cub Scouts of Wales the chance to find out about their own country. It is linked to the Cub Scout Scheme by adapting various parts of the Scheme to include something to do with Wales.
For example: Arts and Crafts - make a daffodil or leek or Entertainer - take part in an Eisteddfod
The design of the Cub Scout Award for Wales badge features a Gorsedd (Bardic) Circle, which links with Akela's circle and the Grand Howl.
General information
a) Cub Scouts have six months to complete the Award after transfer to the Scout Troop.
b) The Award is organised on a roll on-roll off basis, so that Cub Scouts may start the Award at any time as they join the Pack and be awarded the badge when they complete the clauses, even if this is later than the majority of the Pack.

Dragon Award Camping
It’s tough, challenging and a big commitment. Do you measure up??
The whole idea is to sleep under canvas at least one night per calendar month. You don't have to complete a stage within one calendar year, you can spend as many years as necessary to get any part. If you miss a month, sorry, you will have to wait until the same month next year to complete the missed camp, that’s tough. Just one night, it does not matter where, so long as it is under canvas, or in a bivvy. The back garden will do. You may even decide to build a campsite, complete with tents inside your normal meeting place! Or how about a camp that has the first night in one months, and the second night in another?
You can start the Silver Award as soon as you have completed the Bronze. Likewise with the Gold Award. For the Silver ensure each camp is taken from the list on your card, leaving 12 different camps for the Gold. Don’t think it is a pushover, the Dragon Award is a challenge, requiring a big commitment.
When you have completed an award, send your record Card to your Assistant Area Commissioner, stating clearly the Award achieved, not forgetting your name and address. The badge is worn on the right sleeve just below the Patrol Badge. Only the highest Award should be worn on your uniform.
The Award started in January 1998, so any camps held since that date should count. Remember the Award is open to Scouts, Explorer Scouts, members of the Network and Leaders of any section.
For further information regarding the rules and challenges please visit the WSC Website here.
You can get a yellow record card from your AAC (who can get it from the Welsh Scout Council) or you can print out your own by following this link to download a copy.
